Berwick-on-Tweed

Project overview

Berwick has had two previous masterplans that have failed at the implementation stage; a new masterplan is now underway.

This project involves a capacity-building study that will recommend various approaches to ensuring that the right skills, delivery vehicle and attitudes exist to ensure the masterplan is successfully implemented. The study will consider all stakeholders in the town, including the community, the Borough Council and various regeneration and heritage organisations.


North West - RENEW Northwest

Elevate - Pennine Lancashire

Project overview

Elevate, the housing market renewal pathfinder in Pennine Lancashire, has 41 individual projects and programmes involving a multitude of partners and thousands of individuals in the public, private, community and voluntary sectors. This project is aimed at improving partnership-working skills and setting up networks to support existing partnerships. It is aimed at regeneration projects, businesses, community groups, local training providers and existing partnerships.


Yorkshire & Humber - Integreat

Renaissance towns - Scarborough, Selby, Colne Valley (Marsden and Slaithwaite) and Howden

Project overview

CRE8 is a young people's engagement project that uses creative methods to establish youth teams to work alongside existing Town Teams as part of Yorkshire Forward's Renaissance Programme. This project will support professionals to engage with young people, with an emphasis on media and communication techniques. The locations are split between urban and rural areas to see whether different approaches are required to engage young people in their local communities and encourage them to develop careers in sustainable communities.


East Midlands - Regeneration East Midlands

Local Area Agreements in Leicester and Derby

Project overview

Local Area Agreements between central government, local authorities and other local partners underpin the delivery of services pivotal to improving people's quality of life. This project will look at the impact of LAAs on service delivery based on a LAA pilot in the region. It will identify skills gaps and, where necessary, develop programmes to increase the skills needed to deliver LAAs across the region. It will also evaluate the development of the LAA and its impact on work programmes, and the changing roles of partners.


West Midlands - RegenWM

Black Country Urban Park

Project overview

The Black Country is an area of industrial transition that includes contrasting areas of housing growth and neighbourhood decline. The large-scale economic regeneration programmes across the area are being brought together under the banner of creating an Urban Park. This project aims to build capacity and develop the multi-disciplinary project management skills needed to deliver the area's Urban Park vision. A key focus will be on building the skills and confidence of those people dealing with the environmental upgrade aspects of economic development.


East of England - Inspire East

Thames Gateway South Essex

Project overview

The Fryerns and Craylands Regeneration project involves the remodelling of the Craylands estate in South Essex. This project will target the generic skills needed by practitioners involved in this regeneration, as well as provide community engagement courses so that local people are involved in the decisions that will affect their local community.


South East - South East Excellence

Project overview

Ashford is one of the Government's major growth areas. This project will seek to form an understanding of generic practitioner skill gaps in the area and build on the expertise of South East Excellence's programme to pilot techniques that enhance delivery capacity.


South West - Creating Excellence

Gloucester Docks

Project overview

Gloucester Docks is a world heritage site undergoing major regeneration. It is surrounded by areas of serious deprivation. This project will match the current skills demand for the regeneration programme with skills gaps in the local workforce and implement appropriate training. As well as the skills required for the regeneration project, it will consider the additional skills and knowledge needed when dealing with a heritage site.
