Draft Skills Commitment
The symposium provided a forum for delegates to discuss current issues, best practice and options for future collaboration and activity. The symposium programme focused on a draft framework for activity - a skills commitment - to support the development of generic skills for place-making.
The draft commitment builds on the outcomes of the Bristol Informal. The text was developed by the member state-nominated members of the URBACT and Expert Working Groups.
The skills commitment was presented to symposium delegates as a draft, for initial endorsement and comment. The Skills for the Future symposium was an opportunity for delegates - as policy-makers, practitioners, researchers or experts - to use their knowledge and experience to shape and build consensus on the future skills agenda.
The Skills URBACT and Expert Working Groups will review comments and suggestions, and will prepare a final text. The final draft will be published in the first half of 2007, as part of the Working Group report on the symposium and associated work programme, and in conjunction with their recommendations for activity 2007-2013. The final draft will be prepared to coincide with the German Ministerial Informal in Leipzig, May 2007.
