Neighbourhood warden
A Neighbourhood warden provides a uniformed, semi-official presence in a residential area with the aim of improving quality of life.
Wardens can promote community safety, assist with environmental improvements and housing management and also contribute to community planning.
Neighbourhood warden schemes are delivered by local authorities, regeneration schemes and increasingly by third-sector organisations.
Further information
Neighbourhood wardens have a remit to support residents in tackling real issues in communities relating predominantly to crime and grime. An example of an effective neighbourhood warden scheme run by the third sector is that of the Goodwin Development Trust in Hull.
