Embodied environmental impacts are the intrinsic impacts of materials and other resources on the environment. This includes assessing the impact of the extraction of raw materials, their processing and manufacture, and their transportation.

Measuring the embodied environmental impacts of a material or process offers a method of quantifying their comparative environmental benefits.
