Chief Executive

Gill became the first Chief Executive of ASC in January 2006. Gill came to this role after a career in local government where she worked for a variety of local authorities from very urban (Assistant Chief Executive of Leicester City Council) to rural (CE of Craven District Council). She worked at Chief Executive level for ten years, most recently at Burnley Borough Council where she led work on rebuilding community relations after the 2001 riots and spearheading regeneration investment.

Gill's background is in corporate and urban policy, regeneration and economic development, both in local government and as a private sector consultant and academic. Her particular professional interests are in sustainable communities, social cohesion, leadership and community engagement.

Gill has been a Board member of Elevate, the East Lancashire Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder; a member of the DCMS Peer Review Team which reviewed English Heritage in 2007; and a non-Executive Board member of CLG's Cities and Regions Programme Executive.

A fellow of the RSA, Gill is a keen hill walker.

Lyndsay Nelmes

PA to Chair & Chief Executive

Lyndsay worked as a secretary in the horse-racing industry for 4 years before spending a couple of years traveling and working in Australasia, Indonesia and South America. Since returning to the UK she worked in the rail industry for 2 years as PA to an Area Director of a train operating company before moving to her current position at the ASC as PA to Chair and Chief Executive.

Lyndsay is studying for a BA Hons in International Studies with the Open University and enjoys running, going to the gym and socialising with friends.
